Technology
is the driving force behind the Electra 1000 Be.
The new speaker features the same W cone woofers
and mid-range drivers successfully used in the previous
edition Electra Be. These were the first drivers
to benefit from the second generation version of
the W membrane, the result of a new manufacturing
process allowing different thicknesses of foam and
different numbers of glass layers on the internal
and external sides of the cone. Similarly, the same
OPC (Optimal Crossover Phase) filter technology
has been used.
However, the Focus Time system has not be used on
the Electra 1000 Be products, as the new models
benefit from an improved version Gamma construction:
Advanced Gamma construction. The Gamma concept has
always been based on the fundamental principle that
mass constitutes the best counter to vibration,
but the introduction of curved faces and non-parallel
side walls in the new products makes Focus time
uneconomic.
But the principal innovation is reserved for the
new version of the pure Beryllium inverted tweeter
dome, which three years after its initial appearance
has just benefi ted from a major innovation via
IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading).
Thanks to Beryllium, it is possible to have a wide
band tweeter capable of successfully reaching a
frequency of 40kHz. Focal has now focused on the
low frequency band of the tweeter, which is much
more critical to sound quality and is far more difficult
to control.
