With the arrival of the new in-wall Electra IW 1000 Be loudspeaker, Focal offers a high-performance in-wall solution that incorporates the best technologies of the brand, such as the IAL inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium. This loudspeaker represents a true alternative to the conventional boxed high-end loudspeaker.

 The high-end in-wall tradition at Focal started in 2002 with the launch of the Caché 400 series, the first to demonstrate a ‘W’ drive-unit. This series was recently reborn in the Profile IW 908. With the IW 1000 Be however, performance goes much further again as the new IAL Beryllium tweeter is employed. This loudspeaker is a veritable focus-point of technology: inverted dome in pure Beryllium, composite woofer membranes in ‘W’ sandwich (Verre-Verre, Eng: glass-glass), and optimized OPC filtering. Its three-way configuration brings a richness and definition over a large portion of the midrange. The integrated loaded displacement, which preserves the performance independent of the immediate environment, when married to a passive drive unit, offers unexpected performance from an in-wall speaker. Last but not least, the IAL tweeter is a veritable jewel capable of masterfully covering the broad range of frequencies over four and a half octaves. Its spatialization and precision make of it a loudspeaker of distinction, blessed with a power handling and an output quite beyond the ordinary.

 If pure performance is the true essence of the IW 1000 Be, it is the fruit of our labour: we worked hard to preserve this no matter the installation conditions. The aluminium baffle of the tweeter and midrange can be re-oriented to maintain the same level of performance if the speaker is mounted horizontally or vertically. The output of the tweeter and midrange can be finely tuned to provide a perfect balance in all environments and our exclusive Wall Boost Control filter suppresses the wall effect in the bass response.

Finally, practical aspects have not been neglected: rapid and dependable installation, possibility to paint the frame as well as the aluminium perforated grill for a perfect integration, and a required wall cavity depth of less than 10 cm.
